EMDR Therapy Resources

Feeling Anxious or Stressed Can Be Draining

As an EMDR therapist specializing in anxiety and trauma, I recognize and understand that constant feelings of stress and anxiety can be incredibly exhausting and depleting. We all need resources to help us feel less stuck and to help us move through our day with a little less drain. The following recordings and resources can help to do just that.

Disclaimer

These resources are fantastic to assist us in our way of coping. However, I believe that sometimes they can serve as temporary fixes or escapes from the actual problem at hand if we avoid working through our stuff. If you are using these resources to find a sense of calm, that is great! AND if you feel that there are issues that you are trying to escape from by using these resources, other coping skills, or escapes, I genuinely encourage you to speak to a therapist if you're not working with one already. It comes down to both working on the issues and stuff from our past and finding balance and calm in our present.

Strengthening Our Brain Muscles

Through individual therapy and group therapy, I find certain resources are helpful to walk my clients through. These resources are valuable in times of stress but also in times of calm. I encourage clients to try and use these resources throughout the week and in between group sessions to build the brain muscles behind operating them so that when there is a stressful moment or experience, that resource is only a step away and could be used right there at that moment. These resources are specific to EMDR; I did not create them. However, I did record them to share them as potential resources to the general public and past and present clients.

If you are looking for more information about EMDR therapy please reach out to me and we can discuss if it may be a good fit for you!

4 Elements Exercise

This exercise is often done in EMDR groups. It is a fantastic resource to help one ground themselves and return to a centered place.

Calm/Secure Place

If you have done the 4 Element's Exercise, you may recognize this bit at the end about a Calm and Secure Place. This is an exercise that can help the body and mind return to a place of feeling Calm and Secure.

Container Exercise

When something stressful or distressing happens, our brains naturally want to review all the details - but that's not helpful or realistic all of the time for us to do. This exercise helps us walk through putting that material into a container that can be accessed later when we can give it our attention.

I hope you have enjoyed these resources, and they have helped you access your calm within you. If you have any questions about EMDR or would like to schedule a free consultation, please get in contact with me today.
